Kiss and Tell | Kiss and Tell is a feature about kisses in books. First kisses and good-bye kisses. Gentle kisses and angry kisses. Sensual kisses and awkward kisses. Kisses, that made me swoon, and kisses, that made me lift my eyebrow. Kisses, that made me smile and kisses that made me cry. Get ready, I’ll tell you about single one of them. |
I’m a grown-up woman, but I’m still a hopeless romantic. A good fictional kiss makes me feel butterflies in my stomach. So today I want to quote one of my favorite kisses and make you swoon with me.
"Her kiss told him everything she couldn’t say, wouldn’t say. It was hello and good-bye, yes and I hope so. It was an apology written as a love letter, sealed with fierce hope." from 'Exquisite Captive' by Heather Demetrios |
I usually pick up the series after all installments are released. I can’t deal with cliffhangers, and I have a hard time waiting for the next book. But I made an exeption for Dark Caravan Cycle series by Heather Demetrios. This beautiful cover caught my eye, and I was intrigued by the story about a genie. Then I’ve seen some mixed reviews. Some readers loved Malec, another hated him, but no one stayed indifferent. I love complex ambigues characters, so I had to know for myself. I enjoyed this book a lot and recommend it.
Glad you took a chance and ended up really liking this, I love it when that happens!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, a lot of folks like to read them all at once. I like the quote, and you have me curious.
ReplyDeleteI looved this book for the ambiguous characters as well and how realistic and fleshed-out their personalities were. But, also, the romance. Ugh, that kiss! Lovely post, Ksenia! :)
ReplyDeleteThis book does look oh so good, great pick :D I so need to read it
ReplyDeleteI started this book but never finished it... Now I am curious which one is the love interest from the kiss scene :)
ReplyDeleteThat's great you enjoyed this one. Such a fun quote - I really like how completely it details what a kiss can say/do.

ohhh, I'm VERY intrigued about this one. :D And that was a really beautifully written quote...omg, beautiful writing is my weakness. I need to check this out further!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
I picked this book up about two months ago because the premise of the story was so interesting! I'm so happy that you loved it and recommend it. I'll be sure to read this one soon! And I'm happy that the sequel comes out soonish.

I'll need to give this a try again soon because I received the second book as an arc! O_O It made me feel uncomfortable a little though because it felt like she was developing feelings for her abusive master... hopefully that's not the case by the end of the book XD I WANT TO READ THAT KISS DAMNIT.
ReplyDeleteDamn girl, you have such an amazing set of books there!! ACOTAR was amazing for me (I think I gave it 4-5 stars?) and it's the first time it made me actually drool for a bad boy (I don't usually like them bad boys for some reason) AND IT MADE ME WANT A MENAGE A TROIS WITH TWO GUYS (ACOTAR is actually the book that made me want to read threesomes HAHAHAHAHHA) (please don't be scared of me, I promise I'm sane).

I do try and wait until a series is all out before picking it up, too, but sometimes I can't help myself. Sounds like this was a win for you, Ksenia! Glad you enjoyed it and I hope you get your hands on the next one soon. :)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely and lyrical Ksenia, a sure fire way to lure me into any storyline. I love those kisses in fiction you have to wait for, the slow burn romance that develops over the course of the series. This sounds incredible Ksenia, looking forward to grabbing a copy too <3 thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love this feature! I will always, always be a hopeless romantic, and kissing in books will always be my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI haven't started this series... I love Heather Demetrios but I'm worried about the slight triangle. :/ That is such a lovely quote though!
